While the plague ravages on....

Shion held an urn, preparing to bury the ashes as she stood beside Dai Fang. They stood beside the marker of Nao's father, a small hole ready for the ashes to be buried within the porcelin urn. They stood there, saying nothing as they both thought about the impact this had on their lives. Dai Fang had lost his first love. She was gone and he would never see her again. Now all he was left with was Nao's diary, several of her personal items and the memories of her.

Shion, on the other hand, had another problem, deeper and more in need than Dai's. She had no attachment to Kazuya, and therefore could no longer spy on him. This was probably just as well, so that she could focus on eliminating the useless workers. But there was one other problem. The problem of where she lived, or would live now that her sister was gone left her with few options. Dai had already explained to her that she couldn't live with him, and living with Nina and Gali could mean danger to that plan. She could return to living with the fisherman and his wife who'd taken care of her, but that was much too far out of the way for her to continue with her job. She could do a complete merge, a change that was permanent but how Bethie would take that was beyond her.

It was fine with her. She'd gotten too close to that little thing anyway. And as much as she would let Bethie live if she survived the final battle, she wouldn't stop it if any of the others attempted to kill her. Nao had taught her to be loyal to one after all. Which reminded her of one last thing, as she placed the ashes into the ground. Fletcher should know that he had had a child. One that might have known him, had Fletcher let Nao speak.

Tosho was given a bed in the same room as Mihane. She, fortunately or unfortunately, was testing negative for whatever this thing was while he, and almost anything else in the hospital, had. He got up and walked around whenever he could but he was always forced to wear that damn mask. It pissed him off.

It was a rare occasion for Solari to be out of the house and it was a very nice treat indeed. After class, Hitomi had three hours of band practice before she returned home. Luckily for her, she had tonight off or else Hitomi would have to get started on her homework during her break, come home, sleep for three hours and go back to school.

Now, she sat soaking her tired body in the bathtub. Since Solari had used the last of her bubbles, Hitomi made sure to put extra lavender in the tub. Sinking back, into the water, Hitomi let her mind wander. In the past few months, so much had changed.

Kyle was a father and leader of the Poanists. She was now an adult attending the best college in Japan while holding down a stable job. Solari and her lived under the same roof and were getting along; her powers were finally under control. Oh, and a plague was ravishing Tokyo.

So much had happened. It suddenly dawned on her that she had been so preoccupied with life that she never was given the opportunity to fully mourn Alissa’s death. Hitomi sank further into the tub so everything but her face was immersed in water. Now, she could not even muster the strength to cry.

Realization finally dawned on her: she completely skipped her period. Granted, she learned in Anatomy 101 that stress could influence menstruation. But when Kyle and Sara were together, Hitomi now recalled distinctly that when she ran out of the pill in July, after her and Kyle broke up, she

Hitomi did not bother with make up. Once she was dressed and partially dry, she ran out of the house to the local drug store.

- - -

“Simple, easy to use,” Hitomi mumbled, reading the instructions for the home pregnancy test out loud. “Just urinate briefly on the test strip. Results will appear in under thirty seconds. If…” She could not read the next sentence. If pregnant, two lines would appear on the test bar.

Hitomi shut her eyes tightly as the thirty seconds passed. When she opened them again and looked at the test tube, she could barely stand. This was bad. Very bad. Not only was she pregnant, but did not know who the father was.

“Shit….” Pulling down a bunch of toilet paper, Hitomi carefully wrapped the test in it and threw it in the garbage before she attempted to pick up her cell phone. Three tries and she could finally hold the phone in her quivering hands and dialed Tosho’s cell phone number.

Tosho rolled over and grabbed his cell phone as best he could. He couldn't even check to see, who it was. "Hello?"

David sat by the bed of Bunta, watching over him. He was wheezing and coughing weakly, the plague was taking its fatal hold on him. David had found Bunta in the hospital earlier, and once he'd realized the other doctors didn't have the time to take care of him, what with everyone else dying...

"Don't worry about me," Bunta said, very quietly. Almost too quiet, he didn't have the strength to really speak. "Worry about stopping this."

"I need a break from that," David said. Bunta went silent again, and David kept his vigil as the minutes passed. He didn't know how much longer this could go on. But he couldn't wait for it to be over, like everyone else. He could hear all the people who'd died talking, but he couldn't pick out a single voice. If he could, David felt like he'd be able to do something.

Finally, Bunta stopped breathing. David reached out and pulled a sheet over him. "Thanks for helping me back then," he said in a low voice. David wasn't sure he would've made it somewhat sane from all that had happened last March if Bunta hadn't been there to help him. It was the least David could do to watch over him when there wasn't anyone else around to do that.

As David left the room, he coughed a little. He didn't notice it, he felt crummy anyways. Being stuck inside a hospital for a couple of days would do that.

Shizuki was having lunch at Waseda with a rather normal looking girl sitting across from her. They seemed to be very deep in conversation, but their real conversation was hidden under the words they were saying. While their words seemed to be about class work and teachers, they were really talking about was the normal girl's job. They'd been through this so many times it was easy for each other to understand it.

If one were to understand it this is what their coded words were to say.

"It's nice to see you. I'm glad you came."

"You wished to see me, milady?"

"You know what I know, Hana-chan. It's suddenly become a bit more dangerous."

"Yes, I'm aware of it. Other than just whatever this illness that has taken my sister down. But we always have dealt with danger, even while spying for Mariko."

"This goes much beyond that. I can no longer allow you to put yourself in danger for me in this way. However, I would like you to go to Star and collect all the information you can. Work for Stella and do what she says, but keep an eye out."

"Shizuki, that's not..."

"As far as I know he doesn't suspect anything, and I know I would like to keep it that way. Please do this for me and for Yui."

"Have you thought of what you'll do for Yui if anything happens to you?"

"Not yet."

Sara sat on the upper corner of Bethie's bed, gently brushing stray hair away from the sleeping girl's face. The poor girl hadn't slept for almost two days now, afraid of her nightmares. Sara didn't blame the poor thing, they were living in one.

Her cell phone vibrated, and she picked it up. It had to be Fletcher. Once he'd found out his sister was here, he'd freaked. Sara had promised to watch Bethie for him, but he still called every two hours or so.

"Yes, she finally fell asleep," she whispered into the phone. She sighed, exhuasted. Sleep sounded really good right now. "She hasn't gotten any worse, thank God. How is everything else?"

She listened intently to his reply. Stacie had put herself in charge of the children, but made sure they spent plenty of time with their grandparents and Gali. Neither Fletcher, Sara, nor Stacie wanted Dima to think thet trusted her any less. Other than that, things were quiet in the world of the senshi.

"Okay, I'll talk you you later," she said, finally getting off the phone and turned to watch Bethie sleep fitfully. Thepoor things. Sara would die rather than let Miranda or Andrew go through what Bethie was dealing with right now.

David came into the room where Bethie was with Sara once he'd taken care of the death certificate for Bunta.

"Hey," he said softly, putting a hand on her shoulder.

His mother now in quarantine and he and the rest of his family testing negative for this thing, Scot decided to take Chiharu out for that promised double date. Hopefully, Minako and her boyfriend, Mateo (Chiharu had told him the name at one point when he'd called every single night after he'd had to cancel), would be able to join them. They could go bowling or minature golfing or something like that, even though they would have to wear those odd masks. He called up Chiharu, to make arrangements.

Chiharu got Scot's call, and she was happy to see who it was.

"Hi! Do you want to do that date thing?" she asked, almost as if they had a psychic connection now.

OOC: They don't, I'm not going to do that with Chiharu. By the way, should Basil be there with Bethie and Sara? I'm asking here before I post anything for Basil.

Shion walked up to Fletcher's apartment. She thanked Jo for the information, and was very happy she could do this. She'd brought a Kimono that Nao had bought for Fletcher's birthday, so that she could give it to him. She had decided to tell him that she would be moving away to live in Korea with Nao's father. She couldn't live on her own.

She knocked on the door as best she could.

Despite arranging a new apartment off base, he spent of his time with at his mother's house. They both felt horribly guilty about not knowing where Bethie was, and then not finding out she was in that Godforsaken hospital until it was too late. Misery loved company.

But he headed over there to pick up a few things he'd left behind when she saw Shion ring her doorbell. At least Fletcher wasn't the only one stupid enough to let a little girl run around town alone.

"Hey kiddo, what you you doing here?" he asked.

"I..." Shion said, holding the box close to her. "Well... I thought I should bring you this. Nao got it for you for your birthday before you broke up and she didn't have time to take it back before she... comitted... suicide."

She started crying, though it was half faking, it was still truthful. She missed Nao. And now she was gone.

Considering that there was a plague ravaging Crystal Tokyo, Gali felt... surprisingly well. Okay, she still felt like crap, but she didn't have any coughing and was having a day where she didn't feel like puking up every single damn thing she ate.

She rang the doorbell to Sara and David's apartment (currently occupied by neither of them.) "Stace, you need some relief there?" she shouted.

[info]mirandafamily

Stacie had actually fallen asleep on the couch, watching 'The Happy Little Elves' for the fifteenth time now. Andrew was beside her, while Miranda sat in her lap like it was her own personal throne. When Gali knocked, Miranda poked her guardian a few times with a chubby fist, hoping that got the message across.

"Huh? Miranda, what is it?" Stacie asked. It wasn't like her kid to beat on Stacie.

A little finger pointed at the door.

"Oh, someone there?" Stacie asked, and Miranda nodded her still very heavy head as best she could. "Thanks, kiddo," Stacie said, plopping Miranda next to her brother and answering the door.

"Gal, I could kiss you," Stacie said, relieved that it was backup and not someone come to tell her that Sara or David had come down with that plague.

Tomoe was on a plane toward Chicago. She hadn't told anyone where she was going as of this moment. She wasn't happy about lying to her father, but she had to. She'd promised Kazuya this much. Anything to make her lover happy. She had to find the right spot and the right moment to do it. It would be wonderful. She could hardly wait.

Shion looked at her body, feeling her smooth skin and admiring her adult body. A full merge had brought her this, and there was no way that she knew of to reverse it. She ran her hands over her breasts and her waist, as well as through her long hair, which had become a brighter and more radiant pink. Now the others would take her seriously, unlike before where they thought of her only as a child, but she was no longer a child.

She walked over and went through Nao's closet, trying to find some clothing which would best fit her. A smile attached itself to her face as she pulled out one of Nao's own silk Kimono, a white one with cherry blossoms all over it. It would have to do for now until she could get some other clothing. Which shouldn't be so hard.

Starve a fever, feed a cold. That was what Vera had grown up to believe. When she first came down with the fever, she had honestly though the old wives’ tale would hold true. Now that Vera’s fever had risen to 43 °C, her lymph nodes were swollen to a point of them turning almost black, she was rushed into ICU and put on a respirator.

It was not uncommon for patients of this disease to experience hallucinations in what the doctors dubbed as the ‘final stages.’ Instead of being in her hospital room, Vera kept seeing visions of her mother, father, and Tamara as a child, all accusing her of things she had not even realized she had gone.

Vera would have cried out had the respirator and the virus been preventing her from doing so. In an almost merciful act, she slipped into a coma two hours later. Her last conscious thoughts before slipping into oblivion included her praying for mercy to a woman with silvery skin and goat horns, almost completely obscured by a garland.

Milan laughed as he watched Vera fall into a coma. She was a goner for sure. Nina would be so happy.

Not that Milan wasn't. He disappeared from this hospital, moving on to a different one. Maybe it was time to start a different plague. Bubonic sounded good...

Nina knocked on the door to Kazuya's apartment. She did want to brag so badly, especially with how her plan was succeeding at the moment.

Kazuya opened the door with a scowl. "You're here to brag, aren't you?" he said sharply.

"Why shouldn't I do that?" Nina said with a coy smile. She reached up and pinched his cheek. "Aww, you're so cute when things aren't going exactly your way. You've only got four of your people outside the hospital now, isn't that right?"

"I can still do a lot with my people," Kazuya said, just as coyly as Nina. He wasn't going to let any annoyance at her show.

"Whatever, just letting you know I can make things inconvenient for you." Nina walked away, just happy to have gotten back at that bastard. The best was still to come at any rate.

Shion smiled as she walked up to Nina's home, wearing some of Nao's old clothing. Nina should be the first to know and she needed to know what was going on. She smiled to herself, feeling free and unrestrained. She couldn't wait until Gali gave birth. Their mother would free them. They would rule once more.

Tomoe found the best place to do it. Detaching herself from all emotion, she knew what she had to do, for only one person. She smiled and transformed. With her glaive she walked up to random people, stabbing them, slicing off their heads, skewering them, and murdering them on the street. When that grew boring and tedious, she then decided to take her destruction to the next level. Jumping up to the top of the Sears tower, Tomoe looked at all the buildings around. One by one, each of them fell to the ground.

She then called upon every measure she remembered. And when her eyes closed she dropped the Silence Glaive.

When her eyes opened, Chicago was little more than a pile of rubble and millions of dead bodies.

Even had Father not brought the masks home, Aya would have worn something to cover her mouth. As she walked to her destination, she observed several people had already donned nosegays and other form of masks.

When she reached her destination, Aya had no problems getting back security since the doorman seemed to be too feverish to even see her. She rode the elevator up to the appropriate flood. Once she stood outside of Aaron’s door, Aya gave three loud knocks before she stood back so Aaron could see who it was through the peephole.

With Hitomi having suddenly hung up on him, Kyle sent a team of Poanists to go to her mother's house. They could explain to Hisakino Karei just what her daughter was up to now.

Kyle did know that Hitomi and Shizuki were good friends. For that, he headed to their apartment himself. She'd likely go their for some comfort.
